Elections

We exist to get green voices heard in Local and National government! Burnley desperately need progressive green councillors at Borough and County Level. We also field candidates in general elections where ever we can.

Borough and County Elections, 2021

2021 would originally have been just the County Council elections, but as the Borough Elections were postponed in 2020 due to Covid they were held in 2021.

The Green Party had an extremely successful election with Martyn Hurt being elected as the third Green Party councillor in Trinity, Andy Wight elected as the first Green Party councillor for Brunshaw, Scott Cunliffe as the first Green Party councillor for Cliviger with Worsthorne, and Andy Fewings becoming Burnley’s first ever Green Party County Councillor.

Borough Elections, 2019

Building on the success of 2018, Sarah Hall was elected as the second Green party Councillor for Trinity ward with 66.5% of the vote, and saw Laura Fisk narrowly miss out on becoming the councillor for Whittlefield with Ightenhill by just 3 votes.

Borough Elections, 2018

The Borough elections in May 2018 saw a massive swing to the Green Party in trinity Ward, with Andy Fewings being elected as Burnley’s first Green Councillor with 65% of the vote.

County Council Elections, 2017

There are County Council Elections on the 4th May 2017 and we are fielding a record number of hardworking candidates across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale. You can see a full list of candidates here.

Snap General Election called for June 8th 2017

The Conservative Government has chosen to call a snap General Election. This has been passed by a vote in Westminster and will now take place on 8th June.  The Green Party welcomes the announcement and is relishing the opportunity to present its manifesto. Burnley Pendle and Rossendale Green Party will make an announcement shortly regarding its consideration of candidates.
